Crazy news for a young Russian hockey player. He was diagnosed with cancer

Eighteen-year-old Russian talent Ivan Miroshnichenko learned a lot of unpleasant news. The Russian hockey federation announced on its Twitter account on Thursday that it had been found to have serious health problems. Specifically, it is cancer.

Mirošnichenko was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a disease that affects the lymph nodes. The young Russian talent works in the Avangard Omsk organization. “Avangard will provide the player with full support and cover all treatment costs. We wish you a speedy recovery and a return to the ice!” said the club. And the Russian Union also joined: “We believe you will overcome this disease,” representatives of the Russian Federation hope.

Mario Lemieux had the same illness as Miroshnichenko at the age of 28. His treatment took two months. It can also be the driving force for a skilled attacker. So far, however, it is expected to lose the entire season 2022/2023. At the same time, the native from Ussuri was expected to fit into the top ten of this year’s NHL draft.

As a team captain, he led the Russian forward at the Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland, but also at the Hlinka Gretzka Cup, which took place in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The Russians also won there. Last year, he participated in the Under-18 World Championships, where he and his team won a silver medal. And he had to play this year as well.

Mirošničenko has not yet looked into the KHL and so far only the lower VHL has been plowing the waters. He played 31 matches in this year, in which he scored 10 goals and 6 assists.
