The Italian basketball scene welcomes back a familiar face. Daniel Hackett, the former CSKA Moscow play-guard, has officially signed a contract with Virtus Bologna, keeping him with the team until June 30, 2024. This marks Hackett’s return to the Italian league after a seven-year absence.

A Journey Across Continents
Hackett’s basketball journey began in Pesaro’s youth academy before taking him across the Atlantic to St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California. He then honed his skills at the University of Southern California, playing for the Trojans.
His professional career commenced in 2009 with Benetton Treviso, followed by a two-year stint with his hometown team, Pesaro. In 2012, Hackett joined Siena, where he achieved a championship title and earned the coveted MVP award in the finals.
The following season saw him move to Olimpia Milan, adding another championship to his trophy cabinet. in 2015, Hackett ventured abroad again, joining olympiacos and securing yet another league title.
His career continued with stints at Bamberg and CSKA Moscow, where he achieved remarkable success, winning two Russian championships, a Russian Super Cup, and a Euroleague title in the 2018-2019 season.

In a thrilling Eurocup encounter, Virtus Bologna overcame a tough challenge from Bursaspor, securing a hard-fought 98-94 victory. This crucial win places Virtus in fifth position in the standings with a record of seven wins and six defeats.

Renato: No question. Hackett is the kind of player who raises the game of those around him. His basketball IQ is off the charts, and he makes everyone better. He sees the court like few others and can make plays out of nothing.
