Hopefully, Dasha could play on Sunday night. Not in A2, because the membership of non-EU citizens is not allowed. In Serie C, if anything, where the Alpo has its youth roster. Meanwhile Dasha Dubniuk is training, both with the first and the second team, and already a lot. We asked the prosecutors if there were any athletes to host, just to allow them to train, and so we got in touch with Dasha. Born in 2002, guard of the Ukrainian national basketball team, Dasha Dubniuk passed away from Kiev in a few days, a team born in ’99 in the oratory of the homonymous hamlet of Villafranca, a town with more inhabitants in the province of Verona.
On the run from war
On the run from the war, according to a trip that made her pass through Poland and Portugal, until her arrival in Villafranca – where Alpo plays their home games – last Friday night. The parents and siblings are in Ukraine and Dasha’s first words were these: The Alpo has given me some peace of mind, I’m afraid for my family, we call each other every day but knowing them under the fire of war is not easy. I would have preferred to stay in Kiev, play every weekend and continue studying, but the world in Ukraine has changed. I don’t know what to expect but I have faith in tomorrow. Other Ukrainian players have also left the country and are currently hosted in some clubs that allow them to continue training. The path is not easy even on the bureaucratic level.
The necessary documents
In the case of Dasha, for example, you need a residence permit, health card, tax code, authorizations. The whole machine of papers and documents has already been set in motion by the Alpo. The first team, branded Mep Pellegrini, met Dubniuk over the weekend, with her to attend the match of the day from outside, in overalls, after joining the group for the national anthem. During the day to host Dasha are two players of the Alpo, Martina Rosignoli and Serena Soglia. Soon, hopefully, the debut and the ball in wedges in your hands, again, after the war, the sirens and bombs.
