Davis Cup – Spain and Argentina quiet, Australia and Italy hooked: Friday’s results

Spain, without Rafael Nadal but with the one presented as his successor Carlos Alcaraz, took a clear advantage against Romania (2-0) on Friday on the first day of the 2022 Davis Cup qualifying round.

France, opposed to Ecuador, also won their first two singles matches and found themselves only one point from qualifying, just like the Netherlands against Canada, deprived of their spearheads Denis Shapovalov and Félix Auger- Aliassime. Argentina, with Diego Schwartzmann, also lead 2-0 ahead of the Czech Republic.

Zverev launches Germany, Australian De Minaur falls to 240th in the world

Germany, who face Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, saw Alexander Zverev win their match against world No. 216 Thiago Seyboth Wild. The world number 3 won in two sets to launch his country perfectly (6-4, 6-2). Australia, on the other hand, are currently back to back with Hungary.
