The Swiss Davis Cup team still needs one point to win the World Group I playoff against Lebanon. The double composed of Marc-Andrea Hüsler and Dominic Stricker won 6-4 7-6 (7/3) against the Lebanese duo Hady Habib / Benjamin Hassan.
On the fast surface of the Swiss Tennis hall in Biel, it was enough for the two Swiss to take a break to lead 4-3 in the first set and a concentrated tie-break in the second. The solid servers didn’t have any break points to defend.
Captain Severin Lüthi’s team now has a chance to win the 3rd decisive point in the last 2 singles. Henri Laaksonen (ATP 89) will start at 3:30 p.m. – to follow on RTS2 – against Benjamin Hassan (ATP 325).
