Difficult outlook – Momento Deportivo RD

By Jesus Alberto Rubio

Now it was my daughter Adriana Alejandra who asked me what are the demands of the players and the position of MLB in the conflict that has us until today with total uncertainty.

Recall that the first two series of the 2022 regular season were canceled after owners locked out players in December when the last collective bargaining agreement expired.

The inauguration was scheduled for the next day 31.

The most recent thing here is in an article that bears the following title: “The ugliest thing in MLB negotiation and the players was put on”.(Imagine).

The subtitle even warns: “Team owners reacted angrily when talks resumed, alleging that the Players Union backed down on some of its previous proposals.”

Here:

Se puso la cosa más fea en negociación MLB y los jugadores

the DB

Now that –hopefully– there is an arrangement and the season starts in the Big Top, it will be very interesting to see the Designated Hitter rule in full time in both circuits.

For optimism, it is not clear, as far as the news of the start of hostilities arrives, what better wish.

Precisely, about the BD, we can remember the following:

The first DH in the Major Leagues was Ron Blomberg, with the Yankees in 1973.

In 1969, in the Texas (AA) and International (AAA) leagues: The first DH in the Minor Leagues was Paul Flesner with Dallas (Texas League, on April 11, 1969 (Paul Dickson in The Dickson Baseball Dictionary, 2009).

And in our winter ball: The first one was seen in 1969 with Jesús “Chuy” Bustamante, playing for the Ostioneros de Guaymas in a game at the “Fernando M. Ortiz” of the Naranjeros de Hermosillo.

Served, Victor “Pelón” Valencia!

Effa Manley

Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 8, you already know: commemoration of International Women’s Day.

My respect and admiration.

Look at what Cesáreo Suárez Naranjo tells us:

I always admired Joe DiMaggio for “being a Yankee” (my favorite team) and for all his exploits; to Effa Manley I came to “meet” her much later. But, what this woman did is truly admirable.

Equally.

Effa is the only woman in Cooperstown to have been a great baseball fan and knowledgeable about the game and rules of baseball.

Being president of the Newark Eagles, when her husband passed away Abeshe controlled everything he had left and also improved it.

Leading social movements for equality and equity between races in the United States as a tireless fighter and a dreamer…

He always saw baseball as a means where blacks and whites could live together in peace and build an indestructible bridge of brotherhood through sport. On my FB – and where not – find out about the life and work of such an exemplary woman.

That’s it.
