Yastremska donates her prize money
Dayana Yastremska has announced help for her own country. The Ukrainian tennis player, who unexpectedly advanced to the final in Lyon, wants to donate her prize money of around 18,000 US dollars (16,469.94 euros) to aid measures for her homeland. “When Ukrainian people see me now, I want to tell you, ‘You people are so strong, you have a great spirit and I wanted to fight for Ukraine,'” Yastremska said at the awards ceremony with the Ukrainian flag draped over her shoulders. She herself had only recently fled Odessa.
