Clarence Seedorf, Dutch footballer and coach, converted to Islam in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He will keep his first name.
“Thank you very much for all the kind messages I have received on the occasion of my joining the Muslim family. I am very happy and delighted to join all my brothers and sisters around the world, especially my wonderful Sophia who has deepened me introduced to the true meaning of Islam. I have not changed my name and will continue to bear the name my parents gave me: Clarence Seedorf! I send my love to everyone,” the former AC Milan star wrote on Instagram on Friday.

Clarence Seedorf announced his conversion to Islam in the same medium. He converted in Dubai where he owns a number of investment projects.

Clarence Seedorf is the only player in football history to win the Champions League four times with three different clubs: in 1995 with Ajax Amsterdam, in 1998 with Real Madrid and twice with AC Milan in 2003 and 2007. He also won a league title with Real Madrid in 1997 and two Serie A titles with AC Milan in 2004 and 2011. As a coach, he has led AC Milan, Shenzhen, Deportivo and the Cameroon national team, among others.
