Eleven medals for Asturias in the national grappling championship

Asturias won a total of 11 medals (three gold, two silver and six bronze) at the Spanish Grappling Championships held in Seville. The young promise Mercedes García, belonging to the Bandog Fight Club, captured much of the attention of the Asturian expedition by proclaiming herself national champion of both grappling and GI grappling for the second consecutive year. In grappling, Asturias won the following medals: In the men’s sub-15, -66 kilos, bronze for Daniel González, from FCG; the aforementioned gold by Mercedes García, in the female sub-15 -57 kilos, the same category and weight in which Verónica Blanco (Tibet) was silver; in male sub-17 -65 kilos, bronze by Erik Gómez (Bjj Vetusta); in the men’s sub-17, -76 kilos, bronze by Alexander Díaz, from the FCG, and in the men’s sub-20, -84 kilos, gold by José Manuel García. For her part, in GI grappling the medals were obtained by the aforementioned Mercedes García, gold in sub-15 -57 kilos; Erik Gómez, bronze in male sub-17 -65 kilos, and José Manuel García, bronze in male sub-20 -84 kilos. In senior grappling, David Fernández, from the Group, was bronze in 130 kilos, and María Elisa Sandu (Bjj Vetusta), silver in -71.
