Rangers proved too strong for Dragovic’s Red Star, dominating the match from the outset. Goals from james Tavernier (11th minute penalty) and Alfredo Morelos (15th minute) put the Scottish side firmly in control. Despite Aleksandar katai’s penalty miss against veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor, Rangers extended their lead after the break through Leon Balogun’s strike in the 51st minute.

Despite enjoying the majority of possession, the Catalan giants lacked the cutting edge needed to find the net. inaki Pena, on loan from Barcelona, put in a commendable performance for the Turkish side, thwarting several Barcelona attacks.

Red Star Stunned, Barcelona Held: A Candid Conversation with Former Barcelona Striker, Thierry Henry
Welcome back sports fans! It was a night of drama and upsets in the Europa League Round of 16. tonight, we’re joined by none other than Arsenal and Barcelona legend, Thierry Henry, to discuss the key talking points.
Thierry,welcome to the show.
Thierry Henry: Pleasure to be here.
Let’s dive straight into the action. Red Star Belgrade, a team known for their resilience, were absolutely dismantled by Glasgow Rangers. A 3-0 scoreline is notable. What were your initial thoughts when you saw those results?
Thierry Henry: I have to admit, I was surprised. Red Star are a tough team to break down, particularly at home. Rangers were clinical though, scoring early and taking control of the game. Sometiems, you just have one of those nights where everything clicks.
Absolutely. Rangers look dangerous, especially with Tavernier and Morelos firing on all cylinders. Do you think they have what it takes to go all the way in the Europa League?
Thierry Henry: They’re definitely capable. They have a good mix of experienced players and talented young guns. The key for them will be maintaining that consistency throughout the knockout stages.
Now, let’s talk about Barcelona. A goalless draw against Galatasaray at Camp Nou is not the result Xavi would have hoped for.
Thierry Henry: A draw is not a disaster, but against a team like Galatasaray, Barcelona should be winning these games, particularly at home. They lacked that spark, that creative ingenuity in the final third.
I agree. It seemed like they missed Pedri’s creativity in midfield. Was this simply an off night for Barcelona or is there something more concerning going on?
Thierry Henry: It’s hard to say definitively. They played against a well-organized Galatasaray side who defended resolutely. But yes,I beleive Pedri’s absence was felt. he’s a key player for them, dictating the tempo and creating chances. Hopefully, he’ll be back for the second leg.
The second leg in Istanbul will be a tricky one. Do you think Barcelona can turn it around and secure a quarterfinal spot?
Thierry Henry: It will be a test, without doubt. The atmosphere at the Türk Telekom Stadium will be electric. However, I still feel Barcelona have enough quality to get through. They need to be more clinical in front of goal though.
I have to say, the overall Europa League landscape is fascinating this year. Some real heavyweights are still in the mix. What are your thoughts on the competition as a whole?
Thierry Henry: It’s wide open. We’ve already seen some upsets and I expect more twists and turns in the coming weeks. Teams like Atalanta, Braga, and West Ham are all dangerous. It’s going to be an exciting ride to the final.
