Estra Siena Gears Up for a Challenging Serie C Baseball Season
The 2022 Serie C baseball season is set to commence on April 17th, with a highly anticipated clash between Estra Siena and Arezzo.This opening game will feature several familiar faces, including former Juventus players Jeisis German de Jesus, De La Rosa, and Bonilla Castro, who now represent Arezzo. The regular season will culminate on June 24th, with Estra Siena competing in a fiercely competitive Group O.
This group includes six other teams: Arezzo, Junior Grosseto, Dolphins Anzio, Brewers Roma, WiPlanet Montefiascone, and Latina. Only one team from this group will secure a coveted spot in the promotion playoffs,making every game a battle for supremacy. recovery matches are scheduled for June 5th and July 31st.
“Our group is incredibly tough,” states Francesco Giusti, president of Estra Siena. “Arezzo and Latina are both steadfast to make a strong push for promotion. Arezzo has substantially bolstered their roster with the addition of Mata Ortiz,formerly of Lancers Lastra a Signa,and the trio of ex-Siena players. Furthermore, Brewers Roma, relegated from Serie B last year, will be a formidable opponent. They fought valiantly for survival alongside Grosseto’s Boars until the very end. this season promises to be a real challenge, but our goal is to improve steadily under the guidance of our new coach, Jesus Barroso.”
Barroso, who arrived in Italy on February 23rd, will be ready to lead the team after completing his quarantine period.

Moderator: Coach Barroso, welcome to Serie C and to Estra Siena! You’ve arrived in a group widely considered to be one of the toughest in the league. How does that feel,and what are your initial thoughts on the upcoming season?
Barroso: Grazie mille for having me. It’s an honor to be here in Italy and to lead Estra Siena into this exciting season. It’s true, Group O is incredibly competitive, with Arezzo, Latina, and Brewers Roma all possessing strong rosters and a burning desire for promotion. But I embrace the challenge. This is baseball at its finest – grit, determination, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Moderator: Many are highlighting Arezzo as a formidable opponent, especially with the addition of former Juventus players like De La Rosa and Bonilla Castro. How does Estra Siena plan to counter their strength?
Barroso: Arezzo has definitely bolstered their lineup, and we respect their talent. We, however, have a solid core of players with both experience and a hunger to prove themselves. Our focus will be on playing our own game – strong pitching, clean fielding, and timely hitting.Baseball is a game of strategy and adaptation; we’ll strive to play smarter and make the moast of every opportunity.

Barroso: My philosophy is built on a foundation of hard work, discipline, and fostering a strong team spirit. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.We will focus on making incremental improvements each game, building momentum, and peaking at the right moment.
