Nick Kyrgios, today out of the Top 100 of the ATP world ranking, is not exempt from controversy, even when he is off the court. In a talk on the podcast “No Boundaries”the Australian He talked about who will end up being the GOAT, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Daniil Medvedev and the Australian Open final.
“Roger is already out of the ‘GOAT’ discussion. He has a very negative record against the other two (Nadal and Novak Djokovic) and I don’t even think he can beat them on grass.” said the Canberra native.
On Nadalthe last champion of the Australian Open, said: “I have never doubted Nadal throughout his career. If he wins Roland Garros he is without a doubt the best of all time. If Nadal wins 22 Grand Slams, he has the crown.”
Regarding Djokovic’s absence from the Australian Open and the Spaniard’s title in the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, he stated: “I don’t think that matters. Injuries are part of the game, vaccinations are now part of the game. Nadal will play whoever he’s in front of at the time. I think Medvedev is the best player in the world right now. Even though Nadal won that match Medvedev is very consistent.”
Finally, he maintained his amazement at seeing Nadal champion of the Australian Open 2022. “Before the game they asked me and I said it was going to be a horrible pairing for Rafa. The court is not going as Rafa would like, he thought he was not going to get many free points with his serve, Medvedev is going to make him play too much. When Daniil won the first two sets, I found it very difficult for Rafa to come back. When they got to 2-3 0-40 I stopped looking at the result. I looked at it again two and a half hours later and I couldn’t believe it.”
