Archery Triumphs and a National Championship on the Horizon
The Finale Archery Shooting Field in Le Manie, Finale Ligure, buzzed with excitement on February 27, 2022, as it hosted the inaugural competition of the liguria-Piedmont Archery Championship.Over 100 archers, hailing from Liguria, Piedmont, and even regions like Lombardy and the Island of Elba, converged to test their skills.
The championship showcased a diverse range of shooting categories and age groups, with participants ranging from youthful novices to seasoned veterans aged 8 to 80. The Final Archers delivered impressive performances, securing two gold medals in the Freestyle and Recurve categories. Rigardo Paolo,the reigning Italian Champion,dominated the Freestyle division,while Walter Barducci triumphed in the Recurve category. Giancarlo Forte added a silver medal to the teamS tally in the Recurve category.
The young archers in the Recurve Bow Puppies category stole the show with their remarkable debut performance. Raffaele luzi clinched the gold medal in the men’s division, while Massimiliano Costa secured the silver. Alice Mattone earned a well-deserved silver medal in the women’s category.
Adding to the excitement, the Final Archers, in collaboration with the Wakinpajan Archers of Calizzano, have been entrusted with organizing the prestigious Italian Campaign Archery Championship 2022. Scheduled for September 7-11 in calizzano, this national event is expected to draw over 500 archers from across Italy.The championship enjoys the support of prominent sponsors, including the Liguria Region, the Province of savona, and the Municipalities of Calizzano and Finale Ligure.Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling event! A Bullseye Interview with Archery Star Giancarlo Forte
Welcome back,archery enthusiasts! Today,we have a special treat. Joining us is none other than Giancarlo Forte, a seasoned archer adn silver medalist from teh recent Liguria-Piedmont Archery Championship! giancarlo, thank you so much for being with us.
Giancarlo: It’s my pleasure to be here.
Host: Let’s dive right into it. You were part of the Final Archers team that dominated the opening competition of the Li-Pi Archery Championship. How did it feel to represent your club on such a large stage, especially with archers from across italy participating?
Giancarlo: To be honest, it was exhilarating. It’s always an honor to wear the Final Archers colors, but facing such fierce competition brought out the best in all of us. The atmosphere was electric!
Host: You secured a well-deserved silver medal in the Recurve category. Tell us, what were some of the key factors that contributed to such a strong performance?
Giancarlo: It was a combination of things, really. Years of training, a supportive team, and of course, some luck on the day! I was especially pleased with my focus during the final rounds; staying calm under pressure is crucial in archery.
Host: speaking of the future, there’s unbelievable buzz surrounding the upcoming Italian Campaign Archery Championship, which Final Archers will co-host with Wakinpajan Archers in Calizzano. Over 500 archers are expected – that’s a massive event! What are your expectations for this national championship?
Giancarlo: It’s going to be huge! It’s a fantastic prospect to showcase the talent that exists within Italian archery.I’m personally aiming for a podium finish again,but more importantly,I hope the championship inspires more people to take up this amazing sport.
Host: You make a great point. Archery is truly accessible to a wide range of ages and abilities.
Giancarlo: Absolutely! The fact that the youngest archers at the Li-Pi Championship were just eight years old speaks volumes. It’s never too late to pick up a bow and arrow – it’s a sport that challenges both your mind and body.
Host: That’s inspiring to hear. So, for those readers who might be considering taking those first steps into the world of archery, what advice woudl you give them?
Giancarlo: Don’t be afraid to give it a try! Find a local archery club, like the Final Archers who train at the Rivetti gym in Finalborgo, and give it a shot. You’ll find a welcoming and supportive community eager to share their passion for this sport.
