First MTB Women’s Marathon and Sports Matches Successfully Held in Apetatitlán

Apetatitlán Hosts Inaugural Women’s MTB Marathon adn Thrilling basketball and soccer Matches

This past Sunday, the Apetatitlán City Council organized a groundbreaking event in a vibrant and inclusive setting: the first-ever Epic Women’s MTB (Mountain Bike) Marathon. The event was designed to celebrate International Women’s Day by encouraging female cyclists to showcase their skills and passion for mountain biking.

The turnout was impressive,with over 80 participants signing up across various skill levels,including expert,advanced,beginner,enthusiast,and the “donitas” category. The marathon route wound through several communities in Apetatitlán, attracting not only local riders but also participants from across the state and nearby regions such as Puebla, hidalgo, and Mexico City.

Cyclists demonstrated remarkable professionalism throughout the event. Each participant arrived with well-maintained bicycles, sported appropriate gear, and adhered to the competition’s rules, ensuring a smooth and incident-free race.

Along with the MTB marathon, the Antonio Carvajal Sports Unit hosted exciting soccer and basketball matches. The soccer game featured the Golden Snakes and Cometas teams, while the basketball court saw The Panthers and The Girls Lakers battling it out for victory.

Municipal President Ángelo Gutiérrez Hernández played a key role in the event, officially starting the races and matches. He also had the honor of presenting awards to the winners,adding a sense of prestige to the occasion.

In the mountain bike competition, top honors went to Ana Laura Lemus, Karla Espinoza, Arely Hernández Romero, Wendy Acoltzi Quiroz, and Alejandra Sanluis. Simultaneously occurring, the Golden snakes dominated the soccer match with a decisive 3-0 win. On the basketball court,The girls Lakers emerged victorious with a final score of 26-19 against The Panthers.

My strategy was to pace myself, especially in the early stages, and conserve energy for the more technical sections. I also made sure my bike was in top condition—maintenance is key in mountain biking.
