Former Real Madrid star Antonio Cassano raves about Karim Benzema: “A much stronger center forward than Cristiano Ronaldo”
Karim Benzema made a furious performance in Real Madrid’s comeback against PSG. Ex-real star Cassano is not the only reason to rave about it.
Former Italy international Antonio Cassano sees Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema as center forward ahead of Manchester United’s superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
“For my understanding of football, Benzema is a much stronger center forward than Cristiano Ronaldo,” Cassano said BoboTV. “Ronaldo wanted to score goals by any means, to force them – but he didn’t have the quality of Benzema.”
Cassano: Benzema one of the top five center forwards of all time
Benzema last shone in Real’s 3-1 win in the second leg of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain. The 34-year-old scored all three goals that gave the royals a place in the quarter-finals.
“Karim is unique,” said Cassano, who retired in October 2018 and played for Real from January 2006 to the summer of 2007. “From what he shows me he’s in my top five center forwards of all time: Ronaldo, Van Basten, Ibrahimovic, Lewandowski… he’s there. He’s been there for the last 20 years.”
Benzema has “the killer instinct of a number 9 and the skills of a Zidane,” Cassano explained.
