FSecond division soccer team Fortuna Düsseldorf is affected by a corona outbreak. The club announced that twelve other infections were found among professionals and supervisors during PCR tests on Wednesday.
Fortuna had previously had six corona cases among the players and infections with head coach Daniel Thioune and athletic trainer Andreas Gross, it was said. All those affected had gone into quarantine at home. Wednesday’s training has been cancelled.
There will be another series of PCR tests on Thursday. Training for the remaining players was also scheduled for the time being.
“Unfortunately, despite all the measures, the Corona wave hit us hard. We hope everyone has a mild course and a good recovery,” said sports director Christian Weber. It was initially unclear whether the Düsseldorf team could play at SC Paderborn on Saturday (1.30 p.m.).
