Lisa Barbelin Aims for Gold at French Elite Championships
Lisa Barbelin is on fire. After setting a French record, winning the prestigious Nîmes tournament, and securing the European title, the Riom-based archer is poised for another triumph at this weekend’s French Elite Championships in Vittel.
As the clear favorite in the senior category, Barbelin is expected to dominate the competition. Her absence from the Nîmes finals, where she was the runner-up, further solidifies her position as the frontrunner.
While Barbelin’s path to gold seems clear, othre archers are eager to challenge her dominance. A dozen competitors, including Neodomians Madison and Lucrézia Scheppers, will be vying for a spot on the podium. Four other archers from Lorraine will also be competing in the Elite category, adding to the excitement of the event.
Regional Archers Seek Podium Glory
Beyond Barbelin’s anticipated success, several other regional archers are aiming for top finishes. In the compound bow category, Saint-Avertin’s Lola Grandjean is a strong contender for a podium spot. Similarly, Alexis Tombul from Hombourg-Haut is expected to be a force to be reckoned with in the men’s division.
The barebow competition will see Lisa André from Montigny-lès-Metz and Jean-Bernard Taro from Hettange-Grande aiming for medals.
The French Elite Championships have attracted a total of 320 archers, with a dozen representing the region. Archery enthusiasts will be keeping a close eye on several local talents, including Emmanuel Masson and Jean-luc Gravel from Meurthe-et-moselle, Paulette Courte from Dombasle, and Lionel Cellier from Toul.
The first arrows will fly this Friday at 2 p.m.,marking the beginning of an exciting weekend of archery competition.
