Edirne Prepares to Host the 2022 U18 Men’s Basketball Marmara Region Group Championship
The excitement is building in Edirne as the city gears up to host the 2022 U18 Men’s Basketball Marmara Region Group Championship from March 8th to 12th. Thirteen provincial teams will compete for the title, showcasing the best young basketball talent in the region.
Among the participating teams are powerhouses like Istanbul, Bursa, Kocaeli, Tekirdağ, balıkesir, Sakarya, Kırklareli, Yalova, Bilecik, Düzce, and of course, the host city’s own team, Edirne.
Representing Edirne with pride is the Fatih Sultan Mehmet secondary School (FSM) U18 Men’s Basketball Team. This talented squad, comprised of 15 dedicated players and a seasoned technical staff of four, is ready to make their mark on the tournament.
The FSM U18 Men’s Basketball Team roster boasts a formidable lineup: Arda Taybilli, Sinan Ekşi, Eren Kutlu, Kaya Arslan, Hüseyin Efe Can, Kaan Günduvan, Baran karagöz, Yağız Efe Gökalp, Yiğit Köse, Oğulcan Emir, Başar Var, Yalın Efe Bilbaşar, Efe Dağ, Hamza Cemal, Yamaner, and Efe Alaca.
Guiding these young athletes are experienced coaches Sezer Parlak, Kader Rye, Mutlu Diramalı, and Kaan Totu.
Coach Sezer Parlak expressed the team’s determination, stating, “We are honored to represent Edirne as FSM in the Marmara Group Championship. Coach Parlak: We understand the challenges ahead. These teams have strong programs and deep rosters. However, our players are dedicated, hardworking, and possess a hunger to succeed. We’ve been focusing on teamwork, execution, and a fast-paced style of play that will hopefully give us an edge.
Moderator: Your roster boasts some exciting young talent. Are there any players you believe could make a important impact on the tournament?
Coach Parlak: Absolutely. Arda Taybilli, our point guard, possesses exceptional court vision and ball-handling skills. Sinan Ekşi brings a strong defensive presence, while Eren Kutlu is a powerful force in the paint.
