After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the aggressor Russia and its accomplice Belarus were disqualified from all international rugby competitions.
By awarding four points to Russia’s national team’s opponents Georgia, Portugal and the Netherlands, it has become known that Georgia has secured at least a second place in its regional qualification and a ticket to the prestigious tournament.
Georgia has become the 15th national team to qualify for the World Cup finals, following Samoa and Uruguay, which won regional tickets last year.
Georgia has participated in all World Cups since 2003. Seven years ago in England, Georgians won third place in their subgroup.
In the final tournament of the 2023 World Cup, a place has been provided for the hostess France, as well as for another 11 teams, which entered the top three in their subgroups in the 2019 tournament. 20 teams will take part in the final tournament.
