Gochang-gun,located in Jeollabuk-do,is undergoing a meaningful transformation,investing heavily in its sports infrastructure and actively promoting itself as a premier sports destination. This year alone,the county has allocated 1.6 billion won to revitalize its existing sports facilities and create new ones.
Revitalizing Existing facilities
The revitalization project encompasses a range of improvements, including the construction of a new football stadium, replacement of artificial turf at Gochang and Seongseong gateball fields, repairs to existing facilities, and the installation of new lighting for tennis courts.
Expanding sports Offerings
Beyond upgrading existing facilities, Gochang-gun is also expanding its sports offerings.A key initiative is the development of a sprawling 90-hole park golf course. Feasibility studies and basic planning for this enterprising project are already underway, with a focus on integrating the course into various regions, including Gochang Sports town, the southwestern area of Gochang-gun, and disaster-prone areas like Nodongcheon and Gochangcheon.

The Gochang General Industrial Complex Complex Culture and Sports center is also being transformed into a vibrant hub for sports and recreation. This project, with an investment of 16 billion won, will create a extensive sports complex featuring a soccer field, a 9-hole park golf course, a lawn plaza, and ample parking.
This development aims to not only enhance the quality of life for residents in the industrial complex but also attract visitors and boost the local economy.
Attracting National and Regional Teams
gochang-gun is actively marketing its world-class sports facilities to attract athletes and teams from across the country.
The county has already hosted triumphant training camps for various teams,including the Whimungo baseball team,which brought 250 athletes to Gochang Sports Town for long-term training.These camps not only provide athletes with top-notch facilities but also benefit local businesses, such as lodging and restaurants.
