Tony Gwynn: Stanke looked like a man on fire! Two homers, that’s just pure power hitting. It’s the kind of performance that can really lift a team and demoralize the opposition. It’ll be interesting to see if he can maintain this level of consistency throughout the season.
Moderator: indeed. And Jack Liffrig was also notable on the mound, limiting the Tommies to a mere three hits over 7 2/3 innings.

tony Gwynn: This is a tough transition for any program. The level of competition at Division I is simply different. The Tommies need to focus on recruiting talent, developing their players, and building a winning culture. It takes time, but they showed some fight against a strong Gophers team. That’s a good sign.

Tony Gwynn: They definitely have the tools for a successful season. They’ve got hitting power, strong pitching, and they seem to be playing with confidence. But the Big Ten is a tough conference, and consistency is key. If they can stay healthy and keep playing like they did against the Tommies, they’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
