Nelson, whom Popovich served as an assistant coach for thirty years ago with the Golden State Warriors, amassed 1,335 wins in a remarkable 2,398 games, achieving a 55.6% win rate.

Steve: Honestly, considering the landscape of the NBA, Nelson’s record seemed almost unbreakable.But Pop defied the odds. His sustained success over two decades speaks volumes about his adaptability and his ability to get the most out of his players, no matter the roster. It’s a testament to his coaching genius.

Max: Absolutely. And one can’t ignore that Popovich wasn’t just celebrating personal success on Friday night. He emphasized the collective nature of the accomplishment, acknowledging the contributions of his players, staff, and the San Antonio community. This resonates with his reputation

steve: Honestly, as long as Pop is passionate about the game and has the energy to lead, I see him continuing to coach for a while. He values competition and loves to develop players. The game is in his blood.
