Juarez City.- With one vote against, the municipality of Guadalupe lost the venue for the Peasant Regional Basketball Tournament, despite having adequate facilities to carry it out, such is the case of the Salvador Urteaga Vielma Gymnasium; by majority vote said competition will take place in Praxedis.
Fausto González, mayor of Guadalupe, mentioned that Guadalupe was informally chosen as the venue for the basketball tournament, since they had not been the organizers since 2005 and this was going to boost sports in the town, in addition to the economy, so that the decision made in the vote on March 12 seems unfair.
He pointed out that it was in support of the Luquez team that they began to raise their hands to host the basketball tournament, and although they had everything ready, a vote against ruined the work that had already begun.
“We were interested in bringing a sporting situation to the municipality and to bring an event that spoke well of Guadalupe, giving us support to this team that comes with us, we began to support and we began to negotiate with teams from other communities to that the Regional Campesino be brought here; the conditions were given, apart from the teams we were offering them all the facilities they needed. However, the vote is given and the seat goes to Práxedis”, he pointed out.
He added that the municipality of Práxedis is not to blame for what happened, since the vote was legitimate, although he regrets that the vote with which they lost the venue for said tournament was by an official from the municipality of Guadalupe.
