Guerrero Remains Green on COVID-19 Risk Traffic Light, Booster Shots Continue

Chilpancingo, Guerrero, March 2, 2022 – Despite a recent uptick in cases, Guerrero maintains its green status on the COVID-19 epidemiological risk traffic light. the Guerrero Health Secretariat (SSG) reported 392 active cases as of March 2nd, with 102 new infections and 13 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours.

as the pandemic’s onset, Guerrero has registered 97,036 confirmed cases and 6,659 deaths attributed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. While the state currently ranks 25th nationally in terms of active cases, with 392, the national figure stands at 39,026.

The SSG emphasizes the importance of continued vigilance and adherence to preventative measures to mitigate the virus’s spread.Active cases are concentrated in specific municipalities, with chilpancingo leading at 130, followed by Acapulco with 117.Other municipalities with notable case numbers include Ometepec, Taxco, Zihuatanejo, Chilapa, tixtla, iguala, Eduardo Neri, and Tlapa.

Comparing February 2021 to February 2022 reveals a slight decrease in new cases,from 2,731 to 2,554. However, deaths attributed to COVID-19 saw a significant reduction, dropping from 619 in February 2021 to 176 in February 2022.

The SSG announced the ongoing booster vaccination campaign for individuals aged 18 and older in the northern and tierra Caliente regions of the state.

On March 2nd, booster shots were administered to individuals with paternal surnames beginning with the letters A, B, and C in various locations across these regions. These included Cocula, Copalillo, Cuetzala del Progreso, Ixcateopan, general Canuto Neri, Pedro ascencio, Atenango del Río, Buenavista de Cuéllar, Pilcaya, Tepecoacuilco, Tetipac, and Apaxtla.

Similarly, booster shots were offered in Cutzamala de Pinzón, Zirándaro, and Tlalchapa in the Tierra caliente region.
