Hannover 96 hardly got any rest during the international break, at the start of the new training week the Lower Saxony at least managed to get rid of the issue of Lukas Hinterseer.

On Friday, training for the 96ers was prematurely terminated by coach Christoph Dabrowski after striker Hinterseer committed a rude foul on teammate Tim Walbrecht. Hannover announced on Monday that the 31-year-old had been sanctioned internally, meaning that the issue was off the table again. “The behavior was certainly a bit over the limit,” said 96 sports director Marcus Mann in a club statement. A discussion between the player and the coach followed, and the Austrian also apologized to the team.
So the Lower Saxony were able to concentrate on the essentials again at the start of preparations for the upcoming league home game against Jahn Regensburg on Saturday. Not unimportant, since after the last four competitive defeats in a row, the relegation place has come dangerously close again.
“I just wanted to reward that”
Moussa Doumbouya is supposed to provide a breath of fresh air this week. The 24-year-old offensive player, who made short appearances at the end of last season, recommended himself for the professional team again thanks to good performances in the second team of the Hanoverians. “Moussa has now scored five goals in three games and eleven goals in 16 games all season. I just wanted to reward that,” said Dabrowski. “He did well this season, especially in the last few games, but of course you mustn’t forget: we’re talking about the 2nd division and the regional league. That’s another difference.”
In addition to Doumbouya, Dabrowski also welcomed Luka Krajnc, Niklas Hult, Dominik Kaiser, Lawrence Ennali and Philipp Ochs, who were recently injured and absent due to illness, back on the training ground, although only the latter played the full duration. Defender Julian Börner completed an individual program at the same time, while Mark Diemers is still in quarantine due to corona.
