Hertha BSC separates from coach Tayfun Korkut – Bundesliga

Hertha fires coach Tayfun Korkut (47).

The coach only took over the team from predecessor Pal Dardai (45) on the 14th matchday. But in 13 games Korkut only got nine points with the Berliners.

Before the 0: 2 at Borussia on Saturday, manager Fredi Bobic (50) had already told his coach: “We have to score, that’s inevitable.” Due to Stuttgart’s 1: 1 at Union, Hertha is in relegation place 17.

Now Bobic pulls the ripcord and separates from Korkut.

10:14 am: Bobic reaches the Hertha training ground.

11.10 a.m.: The association publishes the official press release on Korkut’s expulsion. It says: “After an intensive analysis and evaluation of the current sporting situation, the management of Hertha BSC has decided to release Tayfun Korkut from his position as head coach of the licensed team with immediate effect.”

Assistant coach Ilija Aračić (51) will also no longer be part of the coaching team. The club will inform about the successor as soon as the personnel has been finally clarified, according to the message.

“Unfortunately, for various reasons, we were unable to keep our work off to a good start,” Korkut is quoted as saying in the press release. Bobic: “We are counting on the positive effects of a new beginning.”
