The picturesque town of Pioraco hosted the eleventh edition of the national winter archery championship on March 6th, marking a triumphant return to competition after the pandemic. This year’s event,held in modern athletic wear rather than past costumes,saw over 120 archers from across Italy,including Rome and Monselice (PD),brave the chilly weather to test their skills.
Unlike its summer counterpart,the winter championship utilizes three-dimensional polyurethane targets shaped like animals,adding a unique challenge for participants. the “Arcieri De Varano” archery club, organizers of the event, meticulously set up 24 targets across diverse locations, from sporting facilities to the scenic Costa Eletta.
Despite the freezing temperatures and snowfall, the archers were undeterred, captivated by the beauty of the surrounding landscape as they navigated the course.
