Determined not to have to get up at dawn this Friday, the Englishman Ian Poulter started running at 17 in order to complete his first lap before darkness and the second interruption of play Thursday at The Players.
Spread the word, Ian Poulter is not in the morning!
Thursday, the Englishman crossed the first two thirds of the course 4 shots over par before managing to complete his first day with 3 birdies including this one (see video) at a run at 17!
To avoid waking up too early the next day, a player in his group had to hit his drive of 18 before the siren sounded. When this is the case, the players have two options: to lift their ball or to finish the hole on which it is located.
With the blessing of Woodland, Mitchell and Griffin
After his beautiful birdie at 17 (!), Poulter rushed to 18 without waiting for his fellow competitors and asked the party in front of his group to play their face-off on 18 before they got ready. to hit their second shots.
Gary Woodland, Keith Mitchell and Lanto Griffin kindly stepped aside for the Briton to play. Thanks to their leniency and the efforts of Ian Poulter, Pat Perez and Jonathan Vegas also managed to complete the 18 holes in time!
On Instagramthe Venezuelan also warmly thanked the Englishman for having taken this initiative which allowed them to save themselves an interminable day the next day.
For the record, the same situation had arisen in 2011 and Poulter had also started running to finish just in time!
