Indoor model aircraft: this is one of the sections offered by the Radio Control Model Club of Orleans (RCMO). This club, chaired by Jérémy Fauvet, was founded forty-five years ago, and despite the defections due to the Covid, eighty licensed members of the French Aeromodelling Federation make it up.
An interclub meeting at the end of March
The RCMCO welcomes all aviation enthusiasts of all ages, girls or boys. It allows the practice of the plane, the glider, the helicopter and the drone on its airfield of Queues-de-Forêt. But in winter, when the cold or bad weather make radio-controlled flying difficult, if not impossible, everyone meets up in the shelter.
Every Saturday and Sunday, from October to April, from 5:30 p.m., the pilots meet in the gymnasium, on a 700 square meter obstacle-free site, and fly light planes, helicopters or drones, at shelter from the wind. Beginners are welcome: they can learn to fly using dual-control radio controls; the instructor keeps his hand on the throttle.
This year, the indoor season will end in apotheosis with an interclub meeting at the gymnasium of Trois-Fontaines, Sunday March 27, where all licensees are welcome.
The first outdoor event will take place on Sunday 1 is May, on the four-hectare Queues-de-Forêt site. It will be Women’s Drone Day, a way to pay tribute to pilots’ companions by providing them with drones, while sharing a beautiful spring day, surrounded by nature. Those who wish to discover this hobby are expected with pleasure and will even be able to do their first flight.
