Inter Milan Roars Back to Form with Dominant Victory
Inter Milan delivered a resounding statement on Friday, crushing Salernitana 5-0 at the San Siro to kick off the 28th matchday of serie A. The emphatic win, fueled by a Lautaro Martinez hat-trick, propelled inter to the top of the table, one point ahead of both Napoli adn AC Milan, who face off on Sunday.
The Nerazzurri, eager to erase the memory of a tough February that saw them winless in four league matches and suffer a 2-0 Champions League defeat to Liverpool, dominated a Salernitana side missing their talisman Franck Ribéry due to a minor car accident. Simone Inzaghi’s men showcased their attacking prowess, leaving no doubt about their intentions from the outset.
Martinez, rediscovering his scoring touch after a 13-game drought across all competitions, opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a clinical cross-shot assisted by Nicolo Barella. The Argentinian striker, who last found the net against Salernitana in December, doubled his tally just before halftime, expertly converting another Barella pass.
His third goal, a powerful volley from an Edin Dzeko cross, arrived midway through the second half, marking his 14th league goal of the season. dzeko, partnering Martinez up front, also enjoyed a productive evening, netting twice himself. He first headed home a Robin Gosens cross in the 64th minute before tapping in a Denzel Dumfries delivery five minutes later.
This convincing victory not only restores Inter’s confidence ahead of their crucial Champions League second leg against Liverpool but also sends a clear message to their title rivals: the Nerazzurri are back in the hunt and persistent to reclaim their crown.

It wasn’t just Martinez carrying the team though. edin Dzeko also bagged a brace. How crucial is it for Inter to have multiple attacking threats?
Francesco: Absolutely vital.Dzeko’s experience and physical presence are invaluable. He creates space for Lautaro and acts as a focal point for the attack. Having those two firing together is a nightmare for any defence.

Francesco: I certainly think so. The manner of the victory was emphatic. They were ruthless and clinical, which is exactly what Inter need to be if they want to challenge for the title. This should give them a huge confidence boost heading into the crucial clash against Liverpool.
speaking of Liverpool, Inter has a tough task ahead in the Champions League second leg. Can they overturn the 2-0 deficit?
Francesco: It’s going to be extremely challenging, ther’s no doubt whatsoever about that. Liverpool are a top team. However, Inter showed against Salernitana that they can score goals and create chances. If they can tighten up defensively and get a positive result at Anfield, anything is possible.
