Andrei Voronin: Thank you for having me. It was a Thursday,February 24th,when the world woke up to the grim reality of war. I remember that morning vividly – the tension in the air was palpable. News reports flooded in about the invasion,and a chilling realization dawned on me: I had to get out. As much as I respected my commitments to Dynamo Moscow and Sandro Schwarz, my safety and the safety of my family became the utmost priority.
The decision to flee your country must have been incredibly challenging. What was going thru your mind during those crucial hours?
AV: It wasn’t an easy choice, to say the least.
Leaving behind your career, your colleagues, and a place you’d come to call home in a matter of hours is deeply unsettling. But the fear for my life and the uncertainty of the future propelled me forward. I had to act quickly and decisively.
We’ve seen the devastating impact of this war on innocent civilians.As someone who has walked those streets, witnessed the joy and passion of Ukrainian fans firsthand, what are your thoughts on the broader human cost of this conflict?
AV: The suffering of millions of Ukrainians is heartbreaking. Families torn apart, homes destroyed, dreams shattered – the human cost of this war is immeasurable.
