Breaking Down Dijon’s Defeat: An Interview with Coach Nenad Markovic

welcome back to Courtside Chat, where we break down the biggest games and speak with the key players. Today,we’re joined by Nenad Markovic, head coach of JDA Dijon, fresh off a tough 84-72 loss against Ludwigsburg. Coach Markovic, thanks for being here.

nenad Markovic: My pleasure. It was a difficult game, but we’re always willing to analyse and learn.

Indeed. Coming into this game, you were wary of repeating the mistakes that led to your earlier, heavier defeat against Ludwigsburg (95-73).Did you see any improvement from your team in this second matchup?

Nenad Markovic: We talked a lot about limiting turnovers and playing more disciplined defense. I saw glimpses of that, particularly in the second half. We managed to slow down their transition game somewhat and Charles Galliou did well early on to spark our offense with those back-to-back threes.

Absolutely. Galliou provided an early boost, giving dijon an initial 11-9 lead. But Ludwigsburg quickly regained control with their intense defensive pressure.

Nenad Markovic: Exactly. Their defense was a real wall. They swarmed our players, forced turnovers, and turned defense into quick offense. Radebaugh was particularly dangerous from beyond the arc.

His long-range shooting was certainly a key factor for Ludwigsburg. Khadeen Carrington seemed to be carrying a heavy load offensively for Dijon. Did you see fatigue become a factor in the latter stages of the game?

Nenad Markovic: Khadeen is a warrior and always gives his all. But against a team like Ludwigsburg, you need multiple players contributing offensively. We need to find ways to share the load more effectively and create better scoring opportunities for everyone.

Do you think Dijon’s early lead might have lulled them into a false sense of security?

Nenad Markovic: It’s possible. We need to maintain focus throughout the game, regardless of the score. Ludwigsburg is a smart, experienced team that can capitalize on any lapse in concentration.

So, what’s next for Dijon? How do you plan to address these issues moving forward?

Nenad Markovic: We’ll go back to the drawing board, analyze the footage, and work on execution. We need to be more consistent on both ends of the court, and I believe this team is capable of bouncing back.

A good team learns from its losses. Coach Markovic, thank you for your time and insights. To our readers, what are your thoughts on dijon’s performance? Let us know in the comments below!
