Depoitre had experienced a first prosperous period at La Gantoise, between 2014 and 2016, contributing to the club’s first league title in 2015. The following year, the Buffalos reached the knockout stages of the Champions League. The striker was second in the Golden Boot, behind his teammate Sven Kums.
After spells at FC Porto and Huddersfield Town, Depoitre returned to the Ghelamco Arena in 2019. This season, he has scored 11 goals in all competitions.
Two days before the end of the classic phase, La Gantoise occupies fourth position, the last qualifier for the Champions playoffs. The Ghents go to Cercle Bruges on Sunday.
