The Asturian delegation makes clear the excellent level in the interterritorial competition
Eleven Asturian judokas won the ticket for the finals of the Spanish Junior Championship of the discipline after overcoming the sector played last weekend in Lugo.
In 60 kilos, Hugo González lost in the quarterfinals against the champion of this weight, but he had an excellent repechage draw and made it through to the finals. At 66 kilos, Borja Tamargo stood up to all his rivals and, although he lost in the fight for the title, he finally got the pass. For his part, the judoka Rodrigo Burgos, in 73 kilos, finished third and reached the same goal, as did Mateo Solís in 81 kilos, while in 90 kilos Mario Sanmartín obtained the place for the national after hanging the bronze, like Adrián González in the heavy after getting silver.
Meanwhile, in the women’s category, Zoe González got the classification, in 48 kilos, after winning in the repechage, in the same way as Nayara Cuervo, in 52 kilos. Alba Barreiro beat Elisa Fernández in 63 kilos, so both judokas from the Principality will be in the national finals, which will be played in two weeks in Madrid. Finally, Melania Souto, in 70 kilos, and Noa Fernández, in 78, with a bronze and a gold, respectively, will also accompany the rest of the representatives of the Principality.
Undoubtedly, the judo of the Principality of Asturias once again showed an excellent level in the interterritorial competition, which it will try to translate into metals in the last phase of the category championship.
The next appointment, the regional
On the other hand, this coming Sunday, from ten in the morning, the Asturias Children’s and Cadet Championship will take place in El Berrón, with 200 registered. At the same time, a junior and senior concentration with the Castilla y León Federation is scheduled at the Colegio San Fernando de Avilés.
