Five judo athletes from the district competed in the Czech Republic. The youngest male martial artist placed in the top 16.
Mario Buchebner (22) had to deal with Brit Jamal Petgrave at the start and was able to win the fight after just nine seconds. The fight time was over a minute against the German Tim Schmidt.
Buchebner won again with Ippon (highest score). In the round of 16 was the end of the line. Competitor Ivaylo Ivanov from Bulgaria later won the tournament in the class up to 90 kilograms.
Aaron Fara, Lukas Reiter, Lisa Grabner and Marlene Hunger dropped out early. “I can’t remember the last time the European Open was so strong. A very instructive thing,” says JCW coach Adi Zeltner.
