In Ravne na Koroskem, not far from the Carinthian border, a youth tournament for the age groups U12/U14 was held. Over 200 participants from several European countries fought for the coveted top positions and gained international experience.
Ilvie Brunner was the youngest and only female starter of the JC Wimpassing in the U12 and won all fights. The Wimpassinger boys also recorded a few victorious encounters.
However, in the end it wasn’t quite enough for the podium: Luca Leingruber-Renteria (U12) and Thomas Seiser (U14) initially made it to the bronze medal match. But that was the last stop and they ended up in fifth place. Sebastian Jenull (14) finished the tournament in seventh place.
“It is to be hoped that there will be more such strong junior tournaments for our youngest judokas in the future, so that they can develop accordingly,” sums up coach Adi Zeltner.
