Juventus probably wants to extend Matthijs de Ligt prematurely
There are plenty of interested parties for Matthijs de Ligt but Juventus are happy with the Dutchman and may want to extend his contract.
Juventus Turin wants to extend the contract with Matthijs de Ligt early. This is reported by the Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport. Accordingly, the strong performances of the 22-year-old in the current season are decisive for the club’s desire to continue with him.
De Ligt is still tied to the old lady until 2024 anyway, the new contract would then apply until 2025 and would be associated with a salary increase for the defender.
Bayern should also be interested in de Ligt
The central defender was already in demand at numerous top European clubs in the summer of 2019 when he decided to switch from Ajax to Juve. Interest hasn’t waned since then, with more clubs being associated with De Ligt lately.
In addition to FC Barcelona and FC Chelsea, FC Bayern Munich should also be very interested in de Ligt. The German record champions lost a central defender in Niklas Süle (free transfer to Dortmund) in the summer and are looking for a replacement.
