Kevin Durant is about to make his comeback with the Brooklyn Nets after almost two months out through injury. The forward was no longer listed on the injury report by the team for the game against the Miami Heat on Friday night.
The Nets posted a picture of the 33-year-old on Twitter with the caption “The return”. Durant injured his inner ligament against the New Orleans Pelicans on January 15 and missed the All-Star Game in Cleveland, among other things.
In all, Durant missed 21 Nets games, during which time the team had just five wins. At times twelve games were lost, currently the Nets are only 32-31 and in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. The gap to the last direct playoff spot, which the Boston Celtics currently occupy, is already 4.5 games.
Durant returned to practice after the All-Star break after suffering a medial ligament injury and has also been on the bench for most Nets games. If you believe his teammates, Durant should already be in good shape again. “He doesn’t look injured to me,” said forward Bruce Brown. “Honestly, he looks really good.”
When KD was fit, he carried the team for the majority of the season. In 36 games, the forward averaged 29.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists, of which the Nets won 24 games.
