Switzerland Levels the Score Against Lebanon in Davis cup
The Swiss Davis Cup team fought back to tie the match against Lebanon 1-1 in Biel. After a surprising loss by Dominic stricker to Benjamin hassan, Henri Laaksonen secured the equalizer with a hard-fought victory over Hady Habib.
Laaksonen, ranked significantly higher than his opponent at 424th in the world, demonstrated resilience after dropping the first set 5-7. He strategically navigated Habib’s powerful serve, patiently waiting for his opportunity. In the eighth game of the third set, Laaksonen capitalized on a crucial break point, ultimately clinching the match 6-3, 6-3.
Stricker’s earlier defeat, a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Hassan (ATP 325), added pressure on Laaksonen to deliver. With the score tied, all eyes now turn to Saturday’s doubles match, where the swiss team will aim to take the lead.
The Swiss squad will rely on the experience of Marc-Andrea Hüsler and Stricker to overcome Habib and Hasan Ibrahim in the doubles encounter.Following the doubles, Laaksonen is set to face hassan again, with Stricker concluding the day’s play against Habib.
