Lakers veterans, Melo included, are ‘flushed’ according to Barkley

One of the problems identified by everyone at the start of the season at the Los Angeles Lakers was the age of their roster. LeBron James had indicated that critics would regret pointing out this fact. Unfortunately for him, the Lakers are 10th in the West today and the lack of freshness and juice has something to do with it.

On the set of Inside the NBA on TNT, Charles Barkley put the cover on what he believes is the main reason for the failure of the Lakers in the regular season.

“You say they have to play hard. But they are not able to do that. I was a great player, yet when I got old I sucked. They recruited all these old players and today they are rinsed, burnt.

LeBron is not. But the others… Dwight Howard is flushed. DeAndre Jordan was flushed. Carmelo Anthony is flushed. I love Carmelo, but it’s over.

In the past two months, we have spoken well of Stanley Johnson, Malik Monk or Austin Reaves. Why ? Because they are young and fight. Sport is not made for old people but for young people.

Older players don’t go the distance, it shows. They can hold out for a quarter or two, but beyond that it’s dead.”

Remember that LeBron James is 37, Carmelo Anthony soon 38, Trevor Ariza 37, Dwight Howard 36, Russell Westbrook 33, Wayne Ellington 34… Earlier in the season, the Lakers also had Rajon Rondo (36) and DeAndre Jordan (33) in the workforce.

The Lakers gave up, how sad
