The home of the game – Ventspils Olympic Center – was filled with spectators, and with it a great atmosphere. The head coach of BC “Ventspils” Gints Fogels pointed out that the main goal of the team has been to relax after a crazy February and prepare for the final.

“The final is the final, we have to prepare seriously,” LTV head coach Jānis Gailītis pointed out. He expressed hope that the team will be able to show the good performance and intensity that spectators will want to see.

The game started quite evenly, but then BC “Ventspils” took the initiative. The first quarter of the game ended with a score of 17:15.

At the start of the second quarter, the home team continued to increase their lead. At the end of the quarter, the initiative was taken over by the Vefians, who were able to even out the result, but at half-time the home team had a two-point advantage.

After the first half, BC “Ventspils” player Artūrs Ausējs pointed out that it is necessary to enjoy a good atmosphere – it often does not happen. Speaking about the fact that at the end of the half, the Vefis were able to show a serious counterattack, Ausējs emphasized that the homeowners had returned a lot of attack bombs and made a lot of mistakes.

VEF Rīga player Kristers Zoriks revealed that he allows opponents to easily score points and collect balls.

The Latvian Cup was resumed two years ago after a break of 26 years, but the restrictions imposed in the autumn of 2020 due to Covid-19 and the pandemic dragged the bold bar. This season, 21 teams from three leagues entered the tournament.

The last winner of the Latvian Cup is the SWH / Brocēni team, and the trophy was won back in 1994.
