The decisive game of last season’s tournament was postponed last year due to the national restrictions on Covid-19, which forced a number of domestic competition seasons to end prematurely.

ICF “Riga” and Liepaja Football School will meet in the Latvian Cup final. As it is known, the newly established Women’s Football Club “Rīga” is based on the Latvian champions Riga Football School, while Liepāja Football School has decided to move to the Women’s Football 1st League championship this season after winning bronze medals in the Women’s Football League last year.

The Latvian Cup for women’s teams was introduced in 2014, when six teams took part in the competition, and over the years the tournament has expanded to 18 units, uniting the two Latvian women’s football leagues in a joint elimination match. The Riga Football School has won the tournament in all previous seasons.

Liepāja football will be represented in the women’s cup final for the fifth time. The women of Rēzekne and FK “Dinamo Rīga”, which won the Women’s Football League in 2019 – were the only case since 2013, when one of the two main domestic women’s football trophies was not won by the Riga Football School.
