The final ELVI women’s floorball match of the day saw the Cēsis-based “Lekrings” team secure a decisive victory against Riga’s “NND / RJTC” in a thrilling encounter. The Cēsis squad capped off their regular season campaign in style, emerging victorious with a score of 6:4.

Welcome back, everyone, to Floorball Focus! Today, we’re joined by a true floorball icon, Rasa Jansone, former captain of the Latvian national team and a player who knows the ELVI league better then most. Rasa, thanks so much for joining us.
Rasa: Its my pleasure! Always happy to talk floorball.
Tonight, we witnessed a thrilling encounter between Lekrings and NND/RJTC, with Lekrings emerging victorious 6-4. What were your initial thoughts on the match?
Rasa: It was a fantastic display of skill from both sides. lekrings played with a lot of heart and determination, and their offensive play was notably extraordinary. Kate Meldere, what a game she had! Three points, including two crucial goals, she really carried the team today.
speaking of Kate Meldere,her impressive performance certainly played a key role inLekrings’ victory. Do you think she’s a contender for the league MVP this season, considering her consistent performance throughout the entire season?
Rasa: Absolutely! Kate has been a standout player all season. She’s a complete player – great stickhandling, accurate shooting, and a real leader on the ice. She definitely deserves to be in the conversation for MVP.
Lekrings ended the regular season on a high, securing a strong position heading into the playoffs. How critically important do you think this momentum will be for them as they face tougher competition in the postseason?
Rasa: Momentum is everything in playoffs. A win like this, especially against a strong team like NND/RJTC, can really boost a team’s confidence. They’ll be going into the playoffs with a lot of belief in themselves, and that can be a huge advantage.
Do you think Lekrings have what it takes to go all the way and win the championship this year?
Rasa: They certainly have the talent. They have a balanced team with strong offense and a solid defense. But the playoffs are a whole different beast. Every game is a battle, and they’ll need to be at their best every night. I wouldn’t count them out,but it won’t be easy.
Alright, Rasa, thanks for your insights. This is definitely shaping up to be a memorable playoff season in the ELVI league. What are your predictions for the championship match?
rasa: It’s hard to say for sure,but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lekrings facing off against VEF in the finals. Both teams are incredibly strong, and it would be a thrilling matchup.
