After 2 mountain stages, the sprinters smell another opportunity today. The fast men certainly won’t get it as the 5th stage is the longest stage in the Tour of Catalonia with 206.2 kilometers. An excellent opportunity for the early breakaways or will a sprinter take the win? Follow the stage closely here with text from 12.20 pm.

  1. 15 hours 14. Another 100 kilometers. In the peloton they control the lead of the leading group, but the pace is not high. The 3 Spaniards keep their lead. †
  2. 3 pm 08. Devenyns leads the way. Dries Devenyns (Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl) moves up and takes the lead of the pack. They gradually wake up and try to make up for seconds on the leading group. The 3 Spaniards up front still have 4’48” and manage to hold on to their lead. .
  3. 15 hours 03. The 3 front runners do not yet have a professional victory on their record. Gotzon Martín (Euskaltel-Euskadi) took part in the Vuelta for the first time in his career last year, finishing 37th. †

  5. 14 hours 49. Points classification. Jonas Hvideberg (DSM) wears the jersey of the points classification. He has 1 point more than Joao Almeida, Ben O’Connor, Kaden Groves and Nairo Quintana. Today there are points to be collected again so Hvideberg has to pull out all the stops to defend his jersey. †

  14. 2 problems: UAE will miss sprinter Molano later. 2 riders put away their bikes and get out of the Tour of Catalonia. UAE will soon no longer be able to count on its sprinter Sebastián Molano. Albert Torres gives up for Movistar. † 13 h 58.

The final stage of the Tour of Catalonia is not easy either. The ride with Barcelona as the start and finish place is a solid conclusion.
