Liverpool FC: Jürgen Klopp reveals when he wants to leave the Premier League club – football

Jürgen Klopp (54) speaks for the first time about leaving Liverpool!

The coach opened up about his long-term future at the Reds at a press conference hosted by the Premier League club – and also revealed when he intends to leave the club himself.

Klopp: “The things we do here are meant for the long term. There are so many things we have tried to improve over the years. At first a lot of people thought I was from Germany and that we would do it like the Germans do, but that’s not the case. I worked in Germany for almost 20 years but I never thought: “Oh my god! We are perfect, we should take all these things to other countries!” No, I just did the right things and hired the right people in the right positions.”

And further: “It doesn’t mean that you automatically win the title. It means having the right people for the right job. That’s what we’re trying to do and these people – a lot of them are here at the moment – will continue to be good in the future. It will be good even after I leave. The plan is 2024 and thank you.”

Klopp’s current contract runs until then. After joining England in 2015, the German coach actually planned to stay until 2022. His previous tenures in Mainz and at BVB lasted seven years.

After the Champions League triumph in 2019, Klopp then decided to extend it for another five years. At nine years overall, Klopp would have been the longest tenure as a Liverpool manager since the legendary Bob Paisley, who coached the club from 1974 to 1983.
