It has become known that the 46-year-old French driver is testing the AF Corse team at the Spa-Francosampo, testing one of its Ferrari 488 GT3 racing cars. The main sponsor of the team is the company “Red Bull”, with which Leb has been committed for many years.
According to unofficial information, Lēbs plans to try his hand at the DTM Highway Championship this year. In the upcoming season, he could replace team driver Nick Kesidio, who is also due to compete in the Formula E and World Endurance Championships (WEC). For this reason, Cesidio will not be able to take part in the first stage of the DTM in Portugal, which will take place on 30 April and 1 May, as well as in the upcoming race in Norrring and in June on the Spa-Francosampo track in September.
Lēbs is taking part in the Extreme E series this year, as well as in the World Rally Championship (WRRC), but he could be free for the first stage of the season on the Algarve and then for the DTM race in Norringsring. The DTM race in Belgium overlaps with the Extreme E stage in Chile, which is expected the same weekend.
Lēbs has previously started in highway races and has also had good success. In 2006, he won second place in the Pescarolo team in the Le Mans 24 Hours, won several stages of the GT Series in 2013 with his private McLaren car, and triumphed in the Citroen plant in 2014 and 2015. in several World Championships (WTCC) races.
