1B Pro LeagueMatchday 2305-03-2022 20:47
Lommel, the penultimate in 1B, has been unbeaten for four games in a row. Today it gave that high form with 0-2 against Lierse even more shine. Lommel (7th) thus sneaks up to 2 points from his direct competitor Lierse (6th), but also mainly collects 10 bonus points in the relegation battle.
Since the change of trainers in Lommel, the team has not lost yet. With Patrick Greveraars at the helm, it maneuvered deftly out of the relegation swamp. With the victory in the cellar game against Lierse today, Lommel is now 10 points clear of the last in the standings, Virton.
FYI: in 1B, only the last one in the standings is relegated.
However, the game was closed for a very long time. Both Lommel and Lierse organized themselves to avoid conceding goals. That strategy resulted in a closed first half.
It had to wait until the 70th minute before the ban was broken. Théo Pierrot took advantage of a pinball moment in the big rectangle and pushed the 1-0 on the board.
The home team did not hang their heads and tried to put on a real final offensive. But Lierse remained too young in the zone of truth and in the ultimate final phase they conceded a late goal on a counterattack.
