Luuk de Jong will no longer be a FC Barcelona player after this season, Mundo Deportivo expects. Sevilla will bring the Dutchman back to Andalusia, and then put him in the shop window.
Sevilla rents De Jong to Barcelona this season. The Orange international had a disappointing start, made many goals after the turn of the year and has now returned to the bench. A second period in Camp Nou does not seem to be in it for De Jong: Sevilla will most likely embrace him again after this season.
How long the reunification will last remains to be seen. De Jong still has a contract with Sevilla until mid-2023, so the Spaniards hope to sell him next summer. However, if a suitable club is not found for the striker, there is also a chance that he will play in Sevilla’s white and red for another year.
A return to PSV is also another possibility for De Jong. On Tuesday it became clear that the attack leader is still in contact with his former employer. Whether a transfer is also feasible remains to be seen.
