Maaseik still jumps over Roeselare on the final match day and thus avoids cup winner Ghent | volley-ball

On the final day of the regular volleyball competition, Maaseik jumped to the lead in a direct duel with Roeselare. The ambitious Haasrode-Leuven lost at Ghent, which means that it has to give the home advantage to Aalst in the next round.

Roeselare suffered a sour defeat at the last minute against eternal rival Maaseik: 1-3. That defeat ensures that Roeselare does not play against red lantern Borgworm in the next round, but against Ghent.

Gent has clearly received a boost from last weekend’s cup win, as it also played a crucial role on this last day of play by beating Haasrode Leuven 3-2.

Due to the defeat of Haasrode Leuven, Aalst (which won easily against Borgworm) ends in 4th place. In their mutual duel in the “Qualification Round”, Aalst therefore has the home advantage.

Composition next round

  • Maaseik-Borgworm
  • Roeselare-Ghent
  • Menin-Achel
  • Aalst-Haasrode Leuven

The game is played to a best-of-3, in which the top 4 (Maaseik, Roeselare, Menen and Aalst) may play the final 3rd match at home.
