Manchester United: Solskjaer dismissal cost twelve million euros
Ole Gunnar Solskajer had to leave early at United. A costly affair for the Red Devils.
The split from ex-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been an expensive affair for Manchester United. As the English record champions announced in their financial report for the past quarter on Tuesday, the departure of the Norwegian and his staff cost the club the equivalent of around twelve million euros.
Solksjaer is said to have received around 8.4 million euros of this as a severance payment, the rest went to his assistants Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna and Martyn Pert, who also left the club.
Manchester United: Rangnick succeeded Solskjaer
United officials had sacked Solskjaer on November 21 following a 4-1 away defeat at Watford. Ralf Rangnick took over for the Norwegian, who had great success as a player with the Red Devils and, among other things, shot them to win the Champions League title in 1999.
Solskjaer took over ManUnited in December 2018 as the successor to Jose Mourinho and was promoted from interim to head coach a few months later due to good results. However, he did not lead the club permanently back to the top of the Premier League.
